Well looky here. Last I checked the worlds first honeycomb tablet was going to be the Motorola Xoom. With a little hackery, a genius developer over at XDA has taken the Honeycomb SDK and compiled a custom rom. This is real folks. The developer mentioned that he will be working hard to polish this build for everyone to use. He also hopes to have the graphics and performance optimized. The Nook Color just became cooler than fan. Who’s buying one now?

It’s interesting to see how the Nook Color, which was originally marketed as an e-reader, has become a popular device for developers and tech enthusiasts. With its affordable price point and decent specs, it’s no surprise that people are using it to experiment with custom ROMs and software.

This news about Honeycomb being ported to the Nook Color before the Motorola Xoom is certainly surprising. It just goes to show that sometimes it’s the smaller, more dedicated communities that can come up with innovative solutions and push boundaries.

It will be interesting to see how this custom ROM performs on the Nook Color, and whether or not it will be stable enough for everyday use. Regardless, it’s always exciting to see what creative minds can do with technology.
