This kind of technologist performs work in areas such as research and computer science. The most common software that they work on include computer-aided design (CAD) programs, artificial intelligence, computer-aided design with humans, energy estimation, health care, and knowledge representation.

And techno-visionaries are those who dream of the future and create fictional concepts based on those dreams. Of these recent definitions, we can probably make three generalizations.
First, most of the folks in the tech industry are visionaries. These are the folks who dream up the latest ways to utilize technology. They are the ones who bring new ideas and technologies to the market and they are usually the first to implement these technologies. However, many tech companies have become complacent because they do not take off in another direction. Companies that fail to keep up with the innovations in today’s world and fail to adapt quickly to changing consumer demands fall into this category.
Second, many tech companies have been selling technology that is more suited for one purpose than another. Consider the Dell laptop. While it is generally well built and convenient, Dell created a laptop only for its commercial purposes. By doing this, Dell was selling technology that consumers used to have available them. While the laptop may be popular, it is certainly not suited well for the home user.
Finally, many tech companies have been ignoring or not fully exploiting the potential of social media. Companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace have become incredibly popular because they combine two very important aspects of business: they allow people to communicate; and they give entrepreneurs the ability to interact with their customers. By combining these two powerful tools into one, companies have opened up an entirely new business model. So while Dell may be selling you a laptop, ask yourself if you’re selling technology or if you’re buying a social platform.
