Verizon has finally sent out a memo to their employees fully detailing their new trade in and early upgrade offers. Beginning August 18 through September 30, 2011, Verizon Wireless will be offering customers with basic phones two options to get into something new. First, eligible customers who upgrade from their existing basic phone will receive a unique promo code via email for a $100 Verizon Wireless gift card by mail. To participate in the promotion, you must upgrade to any Smartphone with and agree to a 2-year agreement and data plan.
The other option for “basic” phone customers is the Basic to Smartphone Early Upgrade Offer. Customers who are currently not eligible for an upgrade and have a basic phone are now able to upgrade early to any Smartphone with 2-year commitment. This is an obvious push from Verizon to lure customers into a two year contract and ink them to a data plan. I am sure alot of users out there with feature phones are looking forward to the Motorola Droid Bionic or iPhone 5. Problem is, the iPhone 5 isn’t expected to release until October; Or is it?
