“No price cut for the Wii” History repeats itself?

For those hoping to see a price drop for the Wii this holiday season you may be out of luck.  According to President of Nintendo Iwata “Of course, we cannot say it will never happen, but we are not thinking of it for the near future.”  The Wii is already the least expensive “next-gen” console out there but with PlayStation and Microsoft bringing Move and Kinect respectively many were expecting to see a slash in prices to raise revenue. 

Some may note that we have seen this before when in August of last year Iwata made a similar statement.  Nintendo proceeded to slash slash prices by $50.00 US by the end of September that same year.  We will keep an eye on this situation if anything changes.
