Samsung manufactures the AMOLED screens everyone is using in the latest phones. ie Nexus One, Droid Incredible, HTC Hero and Desire. The problem is now there is a shortage of the screens needed to make these phones. The Verizon Droid Incredible is suffering the most out the group because Verizon is promoting a huge push of the phone before the iPhone 4G drops.

I think it’s ironic that the Galaxy S is setup to come out soon and there is a shortage of AMOLED screens. Conflict of interest…I think so. Samsung has control of the AMOLED game. Now they have control over the inventory of every phone that needs it.

Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam has confirmed that the shortages by Samsung have been due to the decreasing availability of the screens. The screens have gained popularity since Samsung launched it on the Samsung Impression with AT&T. In response to the demand, Samsung has upped its production and things should return to normal in the next few months.
