Verizon Wireless is introducing new data packages on 7/7/11. The new pricing model is based on research that the majority of Verizon customers user less than 2GB. AT&T recently went to tiered data and have reported similar usage patterns with their customers. Although, I have to say that if you plan to have a 4G LTE device (phone, tablet or air card), you may want to sign up now. 4G LTE is very very fast, you could burn through your data cap in a about an hour. Existing customers can keep their current pricing when renewing or upgrading. However, new lines will require the new data price plans.
The new price plans for Smart phones (3G and 4G):
- 2GB/ $30
- 5GB/ $50
- 10GB/ $80
- Overage on all rate plans is 1GB for $10
