At&t Could Be Largest Carrier by 2011

At&t is currently the second largest carrier in the US. They were dethroned from that title when Verizon took over Alltel some time ago. A new study from IE Market research has presented some interesting theories. According to a five year fiscal report, IE has predicted that Verizon will no longer be the largest carrier in the US. For example, In the year 2014 it is possible that at&t will have about 127 million subscribers to Verizon’s 118.7 million.

This poses some serious questions. Were these results based on at&t retaining the exclusive rights to the iPhone. If so, would this predition be null and void when those rights go to Verizon or even T-Mobile. It is definitely a good topic for discussion. With the iPhone 4 selling so many units this year. I don’t see millions of people defecting to Verizon and paying a $350 ETF. Especially if they are required to purchase a completely new iPhone.
