Are Laptops Becoming Obsolete?

4

Just recently I bought a pretty average laptop. It’s one of those really small acer machines. You know, the itty bitty ones. 1ghz processor with 1gb of RAM. Pretty decent for school work and browsing. I figured I would use it to surf the net while sitting at home, but not be cramped behind a computer desk. I can still be in the living room with the wife watching TV, and getting my internet fix at the same time.

Last night, while using the laptop, I got a text on my Dell Streak. I found myself picking up my phone, responding to the text, checking twitter, playing Angry Birds (again), and checking my usual favorite sites. I completely forgot that I put the laptop down on the couch next to me. I eventually turned it off, and placed it back on my desk

Of course this is not a really exciting chain of events, but I think you understand the just of this whole thing. Do we all really need a laptop anymore outside of gaming? Hell, a lot of phones these days can game. Not hardcore, but you do get a little bit of all worlds “on the go”.

What do you think?
