Android 2.3 Gingerbread Coming This Week

Gingerbread could be launching this week for the Nexus One. What is uncertain at this point is if it will just be the SDK or will it also be an update pushed out to the Nexus One. Techcrunch and the Android Phone translated a tweet from Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, a member of the Open Handset Alliance.

His Tweet:

Preparen sus Nexus One (Developer version) para la actualización vía OTA de Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) para los próximos días

That translates (roughly) to:

Prepare your Nexus One (Developer version) for Android OTA update 2.3 (Gingerbread) in the next few days:-D

For the time being we should take this with a grain of salt. There was a lot of speculation that Android 2.3 or Gingerbread would

only be launching with the Google Experience Samsung phone aka the Nexus Two.

“next few days” is pretty darn close to that mysterious flash update that encourages installation before November 9th (Tomorrow). All we can do right now is wait and see. Looks like the longest living Android Device just got a 3rd wind.
