Who has the fastest web browser in the west? Is it the Mobile Safari on the iPad or Mobile Google Chrome on the Xoom? We go hands on and run a SunSpider javascript test to see who performs the best.

For those of you have have not heard of SunSpider’s benchmarks, they are able to conduct a browser test of a device based off  JSON input, a 3D raytracer, cryptography tests and code decompression. Basically all the crap that goes on in the background during everyday browsing

Sunspider measures everything in ms (millseconds) so the lower the number is faster. The new iPad 2 is expected to be 4x faster than the original iPad. Slashgear ran a comparison to prove so.

The original iPad scored 8594.9ms and the iPad 2 proved to be 4x faster with a score of 2121.7ms.

So what about the Motorola Xoom? The iPad 2 and the Xoom should carry the tablet industry well into next year. Let’s see how these juggernauts stack up

I ran a Sunspider test on the Motorola Xoom. and received the following

============================================ RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals) ——————————————-Total: 2109.4ms +/- 3.2% ——————————————-

As you can see from above the Xoom received a 2109.4ms versus the iPad 2′s 2121.7ms. As you can see the margin is small. But it still favors the worlds first Honeycomb Tablet. What do you guys think? Forget the numbers, which device has the best browser experience?

After owning two iPads. I don’t think there is any browser better than the one on the Motorola Xoom. Adobe Flash 10.2 is coming soon too. Things can only get better.
