Wow. Things are really getting interesting for the first annual Android Homecoming. I am almost thinking I need to grab a book and learn to code before September 23rd. Anyways, earlier this week, the writers at Lazytechguys raised concern about the Developer Challenge. Any mention of the contest was removed from the Android Homecoming website.
Shortly after, briefmobile received a participant email from the Android Homecoming organizers letting them know that some concerns were raised about the face recognizing technology used in the APK and that some changes will be made to the contest.
Long story short, there was a method behind the madness. It looks like the Developer Challenge has decided to use Viewdle’s SDK and a grand prize of $25,00. Finalist get flown to Mountain View, California and the top 4 finalist will receive a 10″ Honeycomb Tablet. Viewdle’s Chief Product Officer, Jason Mitura said: “Fundamentally, Viewdle’s technology provides much more user control. Privacy is a huge issue these days and Viewdle understands that.”
